What To Ask When Hiring An HVAC Contractor

Spread the love

Hiring a heating and cooling repairman when your HVAC system goes bonkers is an easy thing to do. But when you’re going to make a significant upgrade on your system, you have to be careful when it comes to who you’re going to hire. Here are the things that you need to ask them during your interview:

-Do they have a license? Are they bonded and insured? – Depending on where you stay, heating and cooling contractors need to meet minimum education. They should also have real experience and pass the exams given in your locality. Otherwise, they won’t be given their license. Next, They should also be insured and bonded to protect the homeowner in case an accident will take place while they work in your home.

-Do they have character references? – These people would give you an idea if the company and the contractor were able to deliver quality service. You can ask these people if the enterprise in question was able to do a good job and if they were able to finish the project in a professional and timely manner.

-Can they provide you with cost estimates? – It’s important to acquire three written estimates from 3 different heating and cooling companies. You should know the cost of the entire project. Remember that the cost may vary from one company to the next and a very low price doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re going to provide excellent services. So be very smart in comparing the prices and their services. A quick call to the list of references they provided you would give you an idea of their performance.

-What are the brands that they carry? – If you have a preference for a particular brand, make sure that you hire the company that sells this brand. This only means that they understand how the brand works inside and out.

-Do they have experience with your system? – It’s also important that the company has relevant experience with your unit. This way, you are assured that they know and understand what to do and not to do.

-Can they provide you information on tax credits or rebates? – Make sure the contractor is knowledgeable about this. Then, don’t forget to inquire if you qualify for credits or deductions.

-What is their payment schedule? – Make sure the company informs you about their payment schedule.

-Do they have service contracts? – Make sure that you enroll in their service contract program. But what is it? This means that your HVAC system will regularly be checked, maintained and serviced by that company.

One company that I can across was a company located in Lousiana named Alpha Air, LLC; and they had the best options to choose from in town!
